What NEP 2020 changes about a textbook
The policy replaces the 10+2 pattern with a 5+3+3+4 curricular structure — Foundational, Preparatory, Middle and Secondary — and each stage carries its own expectations about depth, sequencing and the kind of thinking a chapter should ask for.
For a production team the consequence is concrete. A Class 6 chapter written for the old pattern is not made compliant by re-tagging it; the exercise mix, the balance of worked example to activity, and the position of a topic in the sequence all move.

Class 6
- Pre-1 – 2
- 3 – 5
- 6 – 8
- 9 – 12
- The 5+3+3+4 stage structure, and what it fixes about grade-band depth
- Conceptual understanding weighted over recall
- Experiential and skill-based exercises embedded in the chapter
- What all of that means for chapter design and page budget

What NCF 2023 changes about a textbook
The framework takes the policy’s intent down to the level a writer works at: which competencies belong in which stage, how a topic should be sequenced against the ones around it, and how assessment should follow from the learning outcome rather than being appended to it.
This is the difference between a list that has to be rebuilt and one that has to be re-typeset. Most publishers are facing the first.

Where Bloom’s Taxonomy fits
“Conceptual over rote” is not checkable as written. A cognitive-level distribution across an exercise set is. Every chapter we plan carries a target band, and every exercise set is measured against it before the chapter is composed — so a gap shows up at the blueprint stage rather than in a school’s review committee.

Target bands used at the planning stage, calibrated to the grade band and agreed with your editorial team. They are planning targets, not measured results from a delivered title.

Why alignment now has to be evidenced, not asserted
CBSE’s August 2024 circular requires schools to publish their prescribed book list and to exercise care with private titles.
A series that can evidence its alignment on paper is materially easier for a school to adopt than one that asserts it on the back cover. The annexure is the artefact that makes that possible, and it ships with every title.

How we build alignment into production
- The mapping annexure, produced alongside the book rather than after it
- Board-agnostic structure across CBSE, ICSE and state boards
- Every competency traced to a unit, a page and an assessment item
